1. I thought the video was nice because they were really devoted to Buddha. I also thought the temple was pretty huge for being man made.
2. I don't think music, art, and literature portrays culture but defines it.

My impression of this video is that they are mixing there old traditions with new things. Their dedication to their religion is admirer able.
Art, Music, and literature show what a culture may be going through at any given moment and show us from the artists’, composers’, or writers’ point of view.

Mixong the old with the new...that also struck me the cell phones and the young boy getting gold fronts! Wow!

Yeah for as religious as they are you would think they would stick to lots of wierd traditons. Like I've read somewhere that some clercs can't sleep on their stomacs and other silly stuff like that.

I think for someone who devoted their life to such a high praise it is an unusual move (ecspecially after keeping hudreds and thousands of years of traditions) and misunderstood i believe that they are trying to better understand their surrounding to adapt and "mix new with old".

1. When I saw these videos, the first one was what i had expected to see, but the second one came as a shock. I mean cell phones, gold fronts, and Tom Cruise!? When I think Tibet I definitely don't think of those things. But I guess that they are just trying to keep up with the rest of the world and in some cases, get ahead.

2. I think that art, music, and literature portray the culture in a way that represents the country or area at that time.

1. i thought that it is great that they are staying close to their culture, but are advancing in technology with the rest of the world

2.art, liturature, and music help other cultures understand the culture, so it helps define parts of a culture

It was intersting to see how even in a didn't country our culture effects them such as the boy getting the gold front

1. This video impressed me so much.On how far this culture has come within the global earth.

2. I think the kinds of things that effect a culture are the ways you live your everyday life for example art, literature, and music. These are an important factor on how people potray different cultures.

1. I think that they were a little too religious, like the guy who was bowing down in the middle of the sidewalk. Also the temple was huge.
2. I think that art, music, and literature play a big part in portraying culture because that's how the people express themselves.

DMZ97435 said...

It struck me how they still maintained all their old religious beliefs and customs and they are still advancing and keeping up with the times.

1. I thought it was cool how they believed that angels built it while they were sleeping. I was truly mystified by the size and how it all seemed to be about praying for them.

2. I think art, music, and literature are a kind of timeline for the cultures. They change so often, but if you look back you can almost see how ppl in that culture were feeling at any given time.

To Courtney, I totally get what you're saying. I don't think about Tibet much, but if I did, Those would not be things I'd associate with it.

Unknown said...

i agree with kevin the fine arts are made by the culture not the other way around

To Shannon:

Chea! It is like a timeline because you can not only see what the people where feeling but what type of music they listened to and what kind of art they were into at that time.

1. I kind of think the video was odd. Their typical traditions didn't seem to me (from my basic knowledge) like something they'd want to mix with new media and other sorts of things.
2. I also don't think music, art, and literature portrays a culture... it's more of a definition of what they're like.

Anonymous said...

1. I thought that the religion has been modernized and the message isn't exactly portrayed the way it used to be.

2. The music, art, and literature is, in a basic definition, culture.

to seo90551 I agree thatmusic art+ lit area deffination
but i dont agree that they wont mix their religion wit modern culture, they seem alright with it and they seem to have adapted with it just fine

1. My impression on the video was that they use technology just as we do but, they know how to balance it out with their spiritual life. I also was surprised that some of our culture like getting gold fronts mixed in with their culture.
2. Art, music, and literature play big roles in our typical life so I think that they portray some of what culture really is.

I also agree what courtney said on number one. :)

2i think music, art, and literature plays a huge part in their culture because it defines who they are and where they came from

L!NDZEy said...

i agree with what Courtney said.
they have technology all over the world and they still are committed to their lives and religion
